For a century the Estey Organ Company in Brattleboro, Vermont was the largest Organ (music) manufacturer in the United States. In 1852 Jacob Estey founded the company and bought out another Brattleboro manufacturing business. Estey Organ Co. Was established in 1846, and the Estey Piano Corp. Was established in 1869 by Jacob Estey, Levi Fuller, Julius Estey and John Boulton Simpson. Simpson controlled the Arion Piano Co. And with this partnership, its name was changed to the Estey Piano Co. A large factory was built. On upright units made after 1960, some manufacturers stamped the serial number on the back of the piano. This is especially true of units made by the Aeolian Corporation and Asian built units. Occasionally, the Serial Number is stenciled on the plate.
